Orbit Teacher Guide Book 1

Orbit strengthens decoding skills while building fluent reading and deep word knowledge, enabling students to decode and understand the meaning of multisyllabic words, preparing them for the increasing academic demands of upper elementary grades. A breakthrough supplemental literacy program, Orbit bridges foundational skills and advanced word knowledge, bringing together decoding, morphology, and vocabulary instruction. 

The Teacher Guide Book 1 is the first of three teacher’s guides needed for Orbit instruction. In Book 1 (Units 1-9), Orbit Vocabulary introduces the concept of semantic relationships between words and common semantic links to express these meaning relationships. Authentic opportunities are provided for students to apply semantic relationships to understand content passages and to ask and answer questions. Students explore multiple-meaning words, shades of meaning, and connotations.
